Cadwaladers Ice Cream Floats into St David's
Published: Thursday, 04 June, 2009
Cadwaladers, Wales' family Ice cream makers, will take its first city centre store in St David's, in the heart of Cardiff, when the shopping centre opens in October 2009.
Cadwalader's first began making ice-cream in Criccieth, on the Lyn peninsula's coast in 1927, and its Ice Cream Cafe at St David's will be its eighth in Wales. Cadwaladers will join a host of caterers including Gourmet Burger Kitchen; Jamie's Italian and Starbucks; alongside shops such as Disney Store; H&M; Hugo Boss, Kurt Geiger and a 260,000 sq ft John Lewis, its first store in Wales, and its largest outside of London.
Caroline Kirby, of St David's Partnership, the joint venture between Capital Shopping Centres and Land Securities, said: 'We are delighted that Cadwaladers, a great Welsh family store, will be opening in St David's, Wales' largest, and what will be one of the UK's best, shopping centres. Cadwaladers will join an array of niche independents, high street favourites and renowned fashion designers, who will compose St David's supreme range of shops, restaurants and cafes.'
St David's will comprise 967,500 sq ft (89,880 sq m) of brand new space in addition to the existing 427,000 sq ft (39,670 sq m). The European capital receives 10 million tourists and 27 million shoppers each year, and on opening, St David's will promote Cardiff firmly into the UK's top ten retail destinations.
Letting agents for St David's 2 are E J Hales, Lunson Mitchenall and Cushman & Wakefield.
