Peacocks, the UK's hottest value fashion retailer, has announced plans to open its flagship store at St David's in Cardiff.

Peacocks' new 10,000 square foot shop will overlook The Hayes from its entrance at Working Street and extend through the shopping centre with another entrance in the newly-modernised Town Wall South Mall.

Town Wall South Mall has been closed for modernisation work since November 2006 in order to be linked with the new development. It will now re-open ahead of schedule on the 4 August to allow an access route through to Hills Street and up to the new first floor extension of Debenhams.

Neil Carron, project director for St David's, said: 'Peacocks is a very successful and well-loved name in Wales so we are delighted that we can add them to the list of big names opening in St David's. When we open on 22 October, it will be just the start of a whole new shopping experience for Wales with lots of new names arriving, as well as established favourites for people to choose from.

'The fact that Peacocks is opening such a big store in Cardiff shows its confidence in the city and the demand from Welsh shoppers.'

Chris Miles, Peacocks' Director of Retail Operations, said: 'We're delighted that Peacocks is returning home to St David's. The store will be our biggest ever in Cardiff and we hope that customers enjoy the experience of shopping in our new flagship store.'
