SPRING FASHION AT ST DAVID'S
Published: Monday, 18 April, 2011
Wales’ largest shopping destination played host to two jam-packed days of fashion and beauty, with over 20 shows across two catwalks and nearly 20 models showcasing the Spring Summer 2011 collections through choreographed dance routines utilising ranges from more than 40 retailers at the St David’s Fashion Weekender.
The shows were designed to turn heads with male models in John Lewis’ menswear appearing trouser-less and female models with mouths masked wearing black leotards to draw attention to their killer heels from Kurt Geiger. Seasonal swimwear shows also attracted cheers from the audience when the male and female models stepped out on the catwalk demonstrating the ranges from CK Underwear and Leia.
Brands on the outdoor catwalk on The Hayes included Pulp, G Star, Nike, Luke, David & Goliath, Reiss and Debenhams. Meanwhile, in the Atrium catwalk, models were styled in retailers including Jane Norman, BHS, Fat Face, M&S, TM Lewin and Ann Harvey. Charlotte Church was also spotted with her boyfriend watching a show on The Hayes as they made their way for lunch at Jamie’s Italian.
The Fashion Weekender gave shoppers an exclusive preview of St David’s brands on the catwalks, located outside on The Hayes and inside in the Atrium, while hair and beauty shows offered advice and makeovers from retailers such as Kamigata and the beauty counters within Debenhams, Boots and John Lewis. Shoppers were also given St David’s Fashion Weekender Chequebooks filled with discount vouchers with as much as 20% off stores such as LK Bennett, Springfield, Quiksilver and Folli Follie.
Steven Madeley, centre director for St David’s, said: “The Fashion Weekender was a fantastic success with tens of thousands of shoppers enjoying the catwalk shows in the sunshine. We have worked hard to establish St David’s as Wales’ biggest fashion destination by bringing a unique mix of designer brands and high street stores to Cardiff. Events such as the Fashion Weekender give St David’s an opportunity to showcase the range of brands on offer and also to provide our shoppers with a fun, free weekend of activity to enjoy as well as some inspiration for their Summer wardrobes!.
“This Fashion Weekender was our biggest and best yet with more retailers participating and more fashion shows than ever before which is why we introduced a second catwalk for the first time. The range of retailers featured offered something for everyone with high impact dance routines on The Hayes to style advice in the Atrium and the whole event went down a storm.”
