ST DAVID’S WELCOMES KRISPY KREME TO CARDIFF
Published: Monday, 07 March, 2011
St David’s has announced the arrival of premium doughnut retailer Krispy Kreme, following an overwhelming demand for the brand from shoppers in Wales.
Famous for its signature Original Glazed doughnuts, Krispy Kreme launched in the UK in Harrods in 2003 and has since opened stores nationwide.
Offering visitors varieties including Lemon Meringue Pie, Cinnamon Apple Filled and Chocolate Dreamcake, Krispy Kreme even offers doughnut lovers the options to select their own ‘dozen’ in the iconic dotty box.
With 45 Krispy Kreme stores and a presence in over 200 cabinets elsewhere in the UK, St David’s is the first to bring the brand to Wales, following a flurry of requests from shoppers who have reported travelling miles to get a taste of their favourite flavours.
The outlet will be located in the south side of St David’s next to Principality and will open officially in April.
Steven Madeley, centre director at St David’s, said: “Krispy Kreme was the most requested brand by shoppers since the centre opened, with visitors even joining social networking groups to campaign for its arrival in the city. With such phenomenal demand, the brand is set to be a huge success in Wales.
“Announcing the arrival of such a highly anticipated brand as this is a great way to start the New Year. St David’s is continuing to deliver a fantastic mix of retail stores and food and drinks outlets for visitors to enjoy. In addition we are in discussions with a number of exciting new brands and retailers who are eager to join us in providing our visitors with a shopping experience like no other”.
Katie de Souza, Krispy Kreme UK’s head of marketing, comments: “Cardiff is a great city and St. David’s is a unique and vibrant shopping destination which made it the perfect location for Krispy Kreme. We have received a lot of requests from people in Wales asking when Krispy Kreme will be coming to them, so Cardiff was an obvious next step for us and we are very excited to be opening there.”
