THREE MILLIONTH CAR PARK VISITOR CELEBRATES A YEAR’S FREE PARKING AT ST DAVID’S
Published: Wednesday, 27 July, 2011
One lucky shopper in Wales is celebrating winning a year’s worth of free car parking at St David’s shopping centre in Cardiff, after being announced as the centre’s three millionth car park customer.
Mother of two, Helen Beveridge from Newport, was congratulated by centre director at St David’s, Steven Madeley, and invited to enjoy a year’s free parking to use at her disposal, to celebrate the significant milestone for the centre.
The St David’s car park is open 24 hours, so Helen and her family will now be able to use the free parking pass at any time of day, whether to shop in the city at weekends or throughout the week, or for late night dining.

On winning the prize, Helen said: “I was extremely shocked and absolutely delighted to have won. We use the St David’s car park on a regular basis for shopping, as well as in the evenings to visit the restaurants and eateries in the centre and on The Hayes, so to be able to park for free for the next 12 months will make a great difference to us.”
Since the centre opened in October 2009, the 2,000-space car park has experienced high visitor numbers, with shoppers visiting far and wide to experience the diverse selection of brands on offer and to enjoy evening dining in both the Eastside area of St David’s and along The Hayes.
Steven Madeley, centre director for St David’s, said: “We wanted to celebrate reaching an important milestone by rewarding one of our shoppers with a prize, which they would get a huge amount of use from. The competition generated a lot of interest from visitors and we are delighted that the prize has been awarded to someone like Helen who already visits St David’s on a regular basis. She will now be able to enjoy a spot of shopping or dining, without ever having to pay to park, for the next twelve months.”
