Egg-citing Easter Treats!

Tue 29 Mar 2016 - posted by Kelly Allen

Spring has sprung and everything feels fresh and new at Easter. For us it's about fresh starts, being together and, of course, chocolate!

John Lewis have such a fantastic range of Easter eggs this year, and we were lucky enough to sample some of them ahead of the big day.

We were given four tasty eggs to try: two from Hotel Chocolat and two from Chococo.

First up was Hotel Chocolat's Scrambled Easter Egg White Chocolate for £15.  Molly and I adore white chocolate and as soon as she saw it she was so excited! This egg comes with six scrambled white chocolate pralines, and these were the first things we all tried. They were absolutely delicious! The quality of the chocolates and the white chocolate egg is incomparable, it melts in the mouth and leaves you feeling all fuzzy inside! Both George and Molly described this egg as 'lovely and amazing'.

After we'd devoured the white chocolate we decided to try the Chococo Milk Chocolate and Honeycombe Easter Egg (£12). This egg is visually stunning, with the gold and chocolate effect, and when we broke into it we discovered a world of honeycomb beyond our wildest dreams. If honeycomb is your bag, this is the egg for you. George said this egg was 'fabulous’ and molly described it as 'amazing'.

Next up was the Chococo Milk Chocolate Butterfly Easter Egg, also for £12. This was a similar design to the honeycomb egg, except it has butterflies inside. The children were really keen on the smell of this egg, it reminded them of chocolate Santa’s!

What I personally love most about Chococo is their ethical standards. They do not use palm oil and they do not use any artificial additives or preservatives, yet still delicious!

Last, but not least, was the Hotel Chocolat Chocolate & Caramel Goose Easter Egg for £10. This egg stood out from the crowd because of its adorable size and absolutely delicious accompanying 'egglets' filled with caramel praline. Again, the chocolate was luxurious yet delicate and we all loved the 'egglets'. This seems like the perfect sized egg for one person, with the added luxury of the extra chocolates.

We loved trying out these very different eggs from both companies, and the children adored the whole process. This definitely reminded us that it's always quality over quantity and even though everyone over indulges at Easter, it's actually nicer to spend a bit more on one egg that really ticks all your boxes.

Hope you had a lovely Easter!
