Father’s Day Gift Ideas

Thu 18 Jun 2015 - posted by Kelly Allen

Father’s Day is always bittersweet for me, having no actual father of my own anymore to give gifts to, but luckily I get to buy gifts and plan special surprises for my husband with the kiddiebops. I love to make a cake of some kind every year, and this year we have been asked to make a coffee flavoured cake (which means he will be the only one eating it- clever guy!) but it’s also lovely to buy the occasional special gift, to add to all the other lovely things you already have planned for the special father(s) in your life.

So, here are my top five gift ideas by St David’s:

1. 14 Piece BBQ Tool Set from John Lewis £59.00

My husband is a great cook, but the one thing he looks forward to when the sun starts to shine, is a BBQ. If you have a mid-range budget, this set is perfect for the BBQ loving dads, and it means he can while away the hours in the garden listening to the sausages sizzle whilst drinking a cold beer- perfect!

2. Annwyl Ring by Clogau £270

If I had a large budget for a gift, this would be the gift I would go for. This beautiful sterling silver and 9ct gold ring is the perfect accessory, evoking Welsh pride. Clogau is the perfect place to buy Welsh inspired accessories, from cufflinks to pendants for that special father in your life. This ring has Celtic vibes and symbolises love and commitment, as well as containing rare Welsh gold- what a thoughtful and long-lasting gift.

3. Ben de Lisi at Debenhams

If you just want a few filler items to bulk out homemade gifts, look no further than Debenhams. Mugs always go down well in our family, so you could go for ‘No 1 Dad’ or ‘Groovy Grandad’ both priced at £8.50 each. Or, if your budget will stretch to it, this fantastic Ben de Lisi cushion for £28.

4. Gents Longines Heritage Watch from Parkhouse Jewellers

If you have a limitless budget, a beautiful watch from Parkhouse is the way to go. I love this alligator strapped watch with 18ct rose gold case- it is so traditional and simply charming…

5. Treetop Adventure Day out (followed by a Nando’s of course!)

This is probably my top choice for Father’s Day. I am much more into events and experiences over gifts, but that’s just me. I would love to spend the day here with my family, go for a lovely lunch and maybe even pop into one of the shops to buy one of the gifts listed above- a perfect day out for any father.

Don’t forget, if you just can’t choose what to get the special man in your life, there’s always the option of a St David’s gift card!
