It's new season time, and that can only mean one thing... I’m ready for brand spanking new AW13 pieces. New season pieces have begun to hit stores, so you can start planning what you're going to be buying right now. High-end high street store Reiss have got some gorgeous pieces for AW13 - for a sneak peak, look no further!
Reiss never fails to stay effortless chic season after season. The high-end brand continues to soar and this time, they have skyrocketed themselves to number 1 with the best collection on the high-end market. The chic, wearable pieces can transform a look into put-together grown-up luxe immediately! It’s all about texture, cut and a smattering of cool prints - their fabulous coats and standout heels are on my new season wish list already! And, yes, I want to basically chuck out my entire wardrobe and refill it with all of the new collection!
The inspiration for the collection came from an interest in the past paired with a fascination of the future. This takes on a modern, feminine interpretation of the 1920s and a flirtation with Gatsby-esque decadence - but with contemporary overtones. There’s a love for old-school dressing up a la Jerry Hall at Studio 54, but as well as sparkle, there’s a sense of realism, where garments are easy to understand and create a flexible wardrobe of timeless pieces.
Colours are subdued and stylish with occasional flashes of something bold or unexpected. Black is key, deep autumnal shades and berry tones offer a little more bite and those sporadic pops of cobalt blue instantly refresh the palette, while softer shades of rose and cognac lend a sweeter look.
Fabrics - and the clashing of them - are so important in a season where contrasting textures offer depth and richness to each and every look. The fabrics of the collection are modern parachute cottons, pure silks, fine gage cashmere knits and double-faced crepes. Leather is worn with leather or pure silk, fur trims adorn wool coats, and beading sits with more embellishment, while jacquards and brocades jostle for attention among sequined pieces.
After seeing pieces arrive in store and all the images from the A/W campaign I must admit I am slightly obsessed with this collection - there isn’t a look that doesn’t work.
What do you think? Have they got it right again?
