Trend update: Spring Pastels

Wed 30 Mar 2016 - posted by Georgia Hathaway

Give your wardrobe a refresh with the softest shades of the season and be inspired by spring’s pastel pieces at St David's. Time to go shopping!

The Dress

Pastels look extra pretty in dress form. Embrace your feminine side with the Devore prom dress by Karen Millen. This delicate lemon style features a beautiful embellished appliqué finish and a prim silhouette, which would be lovely for a spring/summer wedding. The tulle underskirt injects a touch of fun and provides extra lift to the A-line shape. Team with understated strappy heels, a grey leather jacket and undone hair for a Carrie Bradshaw kinda vibe. Don’t forget a cute clutch!

The Trousers

If you don’t want to overdo the ice-cream hues, pastel trousers are a great base for the rest of your outfit. They can be easily mixed with darker colours such as navy and grey to avoid looking too sugary! I love these lightweight, pale blue trousers from Reiss for a modern update on tailoring. They would look amazing at the office with the coordinating suit jacket! And if you’re wondering about what shoes to wear, nude heels are ideal for a touch of sophistication. Alternatively, try metallic silver flats for a bit of edge!

The Jacket

Got a habit of wearing monochrome? Me too! Not to worry, you can still get some sherbet shades in your wardrobe. Add a pop of colour to sleek black and white looks with a blush pink jacket. This cropped trench jacket from River Island would look gorgeous with black skinny jeans and a simple white camisole. A fabulous buy if you want to dip a toe in the pastel trend as blush pink is extremely flattering and complements all skin tones. And the best thing is that it’s easy-to-wear and can work with what you already have! Sorted.
