Travelling to St David’s by car? Please be aware of Principality Stadium road closures that may affect your journey.

Monster Jam: Saturday 16th May

Partial Closure: 11am – 1930pm

Westgate Street closed in its entirety, Quay Street, Guildhall Place, Golate, Wharton Street, Womanby St, Wood Street from Fizthammon Embankment through to St Marys junction of Mill Lane (walkabout), Tudor Street from its junction with Clare Road, Despenser Gardens throughout. Scott Road, Havelock Street and Park Street. 

Castle Street / Cowbridge Road West/ Duke Street and Kingsway to remain open, however lights will be on the Hilton Hotel junction to allow the buses to turn right only.

In addition: Station Terrace – Closure for a short period to allow Queen Street Station to operate safely for 1hour 30mins post the end of the event (approx. 16.45pm – 18.15pm)

The following events will fall under a full road closure:

Take That:  Tuesday 16th June

Full Closure from 15.00pm – midnight 

In addition: Station Terrace – Closure for a short period to allow Queen Street Station to operate safely for 1hour 30mins post the end of the event (approx. 10.15pm – 11.45pm)

Metallica: Sunday 28th June

Full closure from 15.00pm – midnight

In addition: Station Terrace – Closure for a short period to allow Queen Street Station to operate safely for 1hour 30mins post the end of the event (approx. 10.15pm – 11.45pm)

From early in the day’s (7am) Scott Rd & Park St will be managed to prepare Gate 5 and to protect queuing fans.

The following roads will be closed as part of the full city centre road closures each event.

  • Kingsway from its junction with North Road to its junction with Duke Street.
  • Cowbridge Road East from its junction with Cathedral Road to its junction with Westgate Street.
  • Tudor Street from its junction with Clare Road to its junction with Wood Street (access for residents and traders will be permitted via Fitzhammon Embankment.)
  • Plantagenet Street and Beauchamp Street from their junctions with Despenser Place to their junctions with Tudor Street (access for residents and traders will be permitted.)
  • Saunders Road from its junction with St Mary Street.
  • Customhouse Street throughout its length (access to private car parks will be permitted).
  • Penarth Road from its junction with Saunders Road to the entrance leading to the rear of the Central Train Station.
  • The following roads will be closed in their entirety: Duke Street, Castle St, High Street, St Mary Street, Caroline Street, Wood Street, Central Square, Westgate Street, Quay Street, Guildhall Place, Golate, Park Street, Havelock Street and Scott Road, Green Street.

Additions:

Civic Centre: Access to part of the Civic Centre will be controlled throughout the day from 7am, with access allowed only for event parking, limited commuter parking, loading and access to private car parks

Roads affected include King Edward VII Avenue, Museum Avenue, City Hall Road, College Road and Gorsedd Gardens Road.

All Road Closures will be installed for all events by Cardiff Council Traffic Management Events Team.
